1-Ferro stone

Ferro is one of the main four elements of the earth and any mineral stone that contains a specific portion of Ferro stone is called Ferro stone. The Ferro Stone of the world is almost 300 milliard tons which mostly is found in Russia, Canada, Australia, England, America, and India. According to the latest geological and satellite studies, the final reserves of Iran's Ferro Stones is almost 4.4 milliard tons and it is expected that through exploration operations that are going to be conducted by public and private sectors , the portion reaches 7.3 milliard tons.

The global production of Ferro stone in the year 1943, was 195 million tons and considering the industrial growth of the United States, and the manufacturing of  new armored weapons for the 2nd  world war , the proportion of steel produced reached 200 million tons and after the war and because of the destruction of a major part of industries and Bioenvironmental facilities in the Europe and Far East, the need to reconstruction of damaged cities resulted in making fundamental changes in the steel manufacturing industry. This trend continued until the year 1974 and in this year the production of steel reached 950 million tons and because of the continuous increasing of the production and consumption, the steel production reached 1,128,500 million tons in the year 2002.  Considering the growth of steel industries, the extraction of Ferro stone was decreased and relatively the waste consumption increased. Today the production of Ferro stone in Iran has reached the annual amount of 11 million tons and it is expected to reach the annual amount of 45 million tons in the year 2010 through attracting foreign investments.

According to the latest census published by the international fund, 98% of the world's Ferro stone is used for the Ferro and Steel production and averagely 1254 Kg of Ferro stone is required, for the production of 1 ton of steel, according to Iran's economical and industrial development plans, the steel production will reach the amount of 28 million tons by the end of the year 2009 and considering the new investments at the mine sector, this amount of production is feasible.

The C.C.M ASIA Company is prepared to establish an international consortium and long term strategic cooperation with domestic and foreign companies, with regard to extraction, and processing of the regional Ferro stone.[..TOP..]

2-Silicon stone

One of the important minerals used in metallurgy industry is Silicon stone, which is classified based on the percentage of its Silicon. Nowadays the aforesaid mineral is used to produce the Ferro alloy primary substance of steel and foundry industries. Also the Silicon with high fineness is used to produce the primary substance of ceramic-tile industries. The major role of the stone is in the production of Silicon refractory and according to international standards the siliceous refractory contains more than 90% Silicon, 1.5% Alumina (Al2o3), 2.5% (Fe2o3), less than 0.2% (Tio2) and less than 4% Ca o.

This Siliceous stones mainly contains grains of quartzite, quartz which are categorized in a basic style. The temperature of pure Silicon oxide under the atmosphere pressure reaches 1717 degrees C and some elements like alkali and aluminum contained in it, decrease the melting temperature. 4-Ironstone

Iron is one the 4 main elements found in the earth. A stone containing a specific percentage of Iron is called ironstone. The stabilized reserves of ironstone in the world are estimated to contain 300 million tons of ironstone and following to the exploration of new mines, Iran has reached the potential to produce steel and ironstone for the global use. Iran’s total reserves and mines have been estimated to contain about milliard tones of the material and it is estimated to have a potential reserve of about 6.4milliard tones which will be used in the consuming cycle of the country’s steel industries during the next decades. The production of ironstone in Iran now has exceeded 14 million tons annually and its production during the next few years will be about 40 million tons per year considering the demands of internal and foreign markets. 98% of the world’s extracted ironstone is used for the manufacturing of iron and steel and the remaining 2% is used for the production of cement. Presently using the exiting technologies, the productions of 1 ton of steel requires the Consumption of 1254 kg of Ironstone. During the years 2004-2005, china, Iran and Australia were the first 3 consumers of ironstone while the lowest rate was for the United States of America. The main reason is the changes occurred during the last few years in the United States regarding the method of steel production. According to Iran’s development plan, the production of steel in the country will exceed 30 million tons by the year 2010.

The main objective this group, considering the expected growth of steel industry, is to attract foreign investors for the projects of extraction and processing. C.C.M ASIA welcomes any foreign participation and it is ready to cooperate with international companies in the projects of northern and central part of Iran.

 6- Different refractory products

The refractory products show proper chemical, mechanical, and heat resistance in temperatures higher than 1000 degree C, the elements than show refractory properties include:Aluminum(Al),Silicon(Si),Magnesium(Mg), calcium(Ca),Tantalum(Ta), Lanthanum (La),Thorium(Th). The refractory elements are mainly used in steel manufacturing industries. All industries in which the products are manufactured at temperatures above 1000 degrees C used these materials among which we can name steel and foundry industries, cement industries, petrochemistry, ceramic and glass industries, and lime burning. The most important properties of refractory materials are: 1-to protect the stove bodies, glass made reservoirs and filtering canals against flame and melted materials 2-to reduce the rate of heat transfer to out side of the stove 3-to absorb heat, preserve it in long term, and transfer it to the melted material. 4- to act as the main protector of metal melting stoves against heat shocks and tensions 5- to increase the heat efficiency of heating operation stove.

One of the main specifications of refractory materials is the heat resistance they show in high temperatures which principally depends on the chemical composition of their crystal shaped structure. The heat resistance of aluminum contained refractory materials directly depends on the percentage of their aluminum. For instance the fire clay contains 18% to45% Al2O3 and its heat resistance reaches 2050degrees C. other important particulars of refractory materials include: good chemical resistance, resistance toward heat shocks, resistance against attrition, porosity heat transfer, crystal structure and etc.

Principally the refractory materials are categorized based upon chemical condition of the environment I which they operate; degree of showing refractory specifications, or the composition of their primary substances.

The main refractory material’s which are globally used are as follows:

1-      siliceous refractory materials

2-      magnesium refractory materials

3-      dolomite contained refractory materials

4-      graphite contained refractory materials

5-      chromite contained refractory materials

6-      bauxite contained refractory materials

7-      silimanite refractory materials

8-      refractory materials

9-      fire clay

10-  Silicon carbide refractory materials

11-  Alumin refractory materials

12-  Oxide refractory materials

General definition of refractory materials: the refractory fireproof materials are metal or semimetal oxide which have a high melting point and are consumed in the shape of brick, powder and shaped pieces. They are applied as protecting layer in the walls of the stove, reservoirs, bonkers, and in the dishes by which the heated and melted materials are transported. These materials will be substituted with new materials which are materials used in steel manufacturing. Nowadays the refractory materials are abundantly used in various industries especially in steel and ceramic manufacturing and all of the industries in which the production process involves high temperatures. Metallurgical industries of glass and ceramic nuclear industries energy production industry, and chemical industries are all in need of refractory materials. All refractory materials have plastic point of above 1520 degrees C. their role is to protect those containers which are place for those reaction or operation of high temperature. The said reactions or operations ore the physical and chemical reactions of iron or steel, non-Ferro industries, foundry operation, glass and ceramic productions, also those in power generators, atomic reactors, cement and lime industries and industrial stoves.

The important specifications of refractory materials are:

-         Resistant against slag

-         Highly resistant against heat shocks (sudden contraction or expansion)

-         Having physical rigidity against reheating

-         Heat expansion

-         Having heat conductibility

-         Porosity and density

-         The ability to penetrate (against gases)

-         Shock resistant

-         Creeping

Now the refractory materials play an active role in the production of the new generation of bio-ceramics.

Note:
